Well, that’s one way of describing a tree, but I don’t think it does justice to such a magnificent tree as this obviously once was.
It is however the name of a piece of installation art that I was surprised to come across this week in one of the entrances to Selfridges in central London (what’s a tree trunk roped to some steel girders doing in an upmarket department store - must be art!). The work is by Marco Miehling and was borrowed by Selfridges from the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Apparently, the tree was “sustainably felled” (strange expression) to protect other trees in the park from disease. Looking at the bark, could it be a London Plane?
