Hamlet Wood Carvers meet at the Hamlet Wood Scout Camp site, hence the name, set in 27 acres of woodland situated between South Maidstone and Coxheath in Kent. We have the use of one of the large buildings complete with heating, toilets and a fully fitted kitchen. There is of course loads of parking.
Meetings are held on Thursdays as shown below. The sessions run from 09.30 to 15.00, members choosing just how much of the day they want to spend carving and chatting.
We are all members of the British Woodcarvers Association and pay an annual membership fee of £25. We then pay £5 per visit to Hamlet Wood. Other BWA Members are welcome, the same £5 fee being requested. The fees go towards the rent and covers coffee, tea and biscuits throughout the day. Bring a packed lunch if required, this can be enjoyed out in the woodland when weather permits.
New members are always welcome, and tools, equipment and tutorial advice are available. A suitable workstation (eg work mate) is the only thing carvers need to bring with them. We welcome casual visitors who pop in for a free cuppa and biscuits just to see what we get up to.
All sessions are held on a Thursday from 0930hrs to 1500hrs
These dates are subject to change in cases of bad weather.
Visitors are most welcome. These dates are all Thursdays. Please drop in for a tea or coffee we look forward to seeing you any time between 0930 hrs and before 1500 hrs.
Also we will be demonstrating carving at the Axminster Tools site in Bobbing, Sittingbourne Kent on Saturday 14th March 2020 from 1000hrs to 1500hrs and again on Saturday 12th September 2020.
